Cryptography Checksum tool guide

Since checksum method is not complete: templates may be deleted on future updates if I make big changes. This for trying to avoid crashes and malfunctions.

Picture
First time operations:
  • You must first go to create template. Template controls which hash functions will be used to calculate checksum from text or file. More about templates on next image.
  • When template is created you are able to select files.
  • I call checksum generation task "compiling" so "Compile" button will create checksum's.
  • Manage button will lead on same dialog as creating template. You can have as many templates as you want.

Picture
Creating and managing templates:
  • Template name is what you can use to recognize templates form each other.
  • All selected output algorithms are used and will be seen on output with selected template, so select those methods which you want to use with named template.
  • Choose default output methods from clipboard item and TXT File.
  • TXT File is saved on external storage root.
  • Text Customizing means formatted output.
Example: giving {METHOD=} and {} as "Something=" and "<-" will output:
"Something=CHECKSUM<-" on all used methods. This will be changed in future updates in a way that user can input custom output for each method separately. This feature is used to set some specific text on front and end of checksum output.
  • Saved templates are shown at the bottom. Clicking saved template open it at editor and clicking SAVE will save selected template. Otherwise SAVE will create new.

Calculating checksum from files:
  • Calculating file checksum's will take much time if file size is big. I have not tested this out with very large files, only small .apk files.

Picture
Output example:
  • In this case I have created template named "TestName" where I have selected all checksum algorithms and output methods.
  • Checksum's are calculated for .apk file selected from external memory root.
  • I have not set text customization so I get default METHOD=CHECKSUM
  • This is what it looks like. It's now automatically copied to my clipboard and saved as .txt file.
  • Now I can post this where ever I wan't with the file where it's calculated of. User who downloads my file (for example from website) sees my checksum's for that specific downloadable file and can verify it's integrity.
